Time to get it on & poppin'!!!!
Let's face it, bloggin is like using the phrase "What's really good?" a couple of years back, everbody's doin it and being the huge NERD that I am, I decided to run my own blog and share the ups & downs with the rest of yall NERDS.
Some of yall might know that I did a street-tape last summer with DJ Double M (Welcome back, doggie!!!!), titled Climate Change Vol.1 and basically the idea was to gather up some of our favourite beats and lace them with off-the-top rhymes and that's exactly what we did.
By off-the-top I mean that I don't write down my rhymes, usually I'm just mumblin to myself and that's how all the songs (exept Bagdad Black Gold, the second joint on the mixtape) on CC Vol.1 was done.
It's not that I don't like to write my rhymes down, NO!!!! it's just that when I'm on the grind I always have my headphones on and it's hard to keep a pen and a pad on me 24/7 so I realized that I could memorize most of the lines I came up with during the day and that's why I stopped writing. Now it has become a part of my style, I'm talkin about the whole process when I'm workin on a new joint.
I finished 4 songs last night and each one of em will end up being on our upcomin mixtape "Live At The Barbershop" which is a mixtape put together by me and DJ Client 15.
Client 15 is a close friend of mine and I've wanted to do a mixtape with him for a loooooong time.
After me & Double M finished CC Vol.1, I approached Client 15 and we sat down to exchange ideas of what the mixtape should be titled as and would it carry a certain theme around it.
I didn't want it to be similar to Climate Change Vol.1 but I still wanted to be able to rap about whatever it is I wanna say (that's why I loooooove doin mixtapes), so Client 15 came up with the perfect idea, "The Barbershop". No matter where you live, the barbershop is the place where you can speak about anything, A-NY-THING!
If you just lost someone close to you, you're gonna tell your barber about it.
If you just got bought a new whip, you're gonna tell your barber about it.
If you just struck the lotto...u get the picture already.
"Live At The Barbershop" contains 20 "brand new" joints and 5 hilarious barbershop-skits, it's gonna be off the hook I'm tellin ya!!!!
I just finished the last songs and we still have to put it together so I think it's gonna be out within a month or so...and it's FREE!!!! Coz muthaf*!#s is broke!!!!
I'll give yall a sneak-peak once we hit the studio!
I'm also workin on "Climate Change Vol.2" (this time around it's gonna have strictly club bangers on it) with DJ Double M.
"Return Of The 80's Baby" with DJ Sammy Jam (it's gonna be ridiculous, son!!!!)
Alpha Soul EP which will be produced entirely by Ink and we also have two really talented female singers on it (more on that later).
And then there's my solo-project "Riq Alpha - Breaking Molds", comin out late 2009
I will be posting songs for you to download on this blog so stay alert!!!!
Peace & Love!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yours Truly,
Riq Alpha aka Riqzilla aka Riq Money Bags aka Riq The Ruler
